In 1966, The Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America established Maryknoll Practical Secondary School in Ngau Tau Kok to provide educational opportunities for grassroots students, in a time when educational resources were scarce. Starting with a vocational-oriented curriculum, the school has undergone several transformations: it was renamed Maryknoll Technical Secondary School in 1978, officially shaped into a comprehensive school with balanced development in arts, sciences, engineering, and commerce in 1997. Eventually, the school was relocated to the modernised campus on On Sau Road, Kwun Tong in 2022, opening a new chapter in education. Each transformation has accurately responded to the needs of the times, always centering on the future of the students.
For 60 years, Maryknoll Secondary School has adhered to the Catholic educational philosophy, committed to cultivating well-rounded pillars of society. From vocational training to holistic education, from the old campus on Choi Ha Road to the new campus on On Sau Road, the learning environment has been continuously optimized while the original intention of "education for all" remains unchanged. Across these changes, the school’s tradition of the spirit of Christ, the care for others, and the holistic development of students has been maintained.
To celebrate this important milestone of the school being founded for 60 years, the school will organise a series of exciting events, including the 60th Anniversary Opening Ceremony, an anniversary football match, an anniversary athletics meet, Thanksgiving Mass, an anniversary fun day, and the 60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Open Day and Homecoming Day 2026. We sincerely invite alumni, parents, and friends to participate and recall our glorious history, so as to look forward to a new chapter in education.
Reaching its Diamond Jubilee year, Maryknoll Secondary School will continue to uphold its founding spirit and cultivate more well-rounded "Maryknollers" for Hong Kong.
